Bahgi Berhane

Bahgi Berhane is a distinguished development finance leader with over 17 years of experience structuring and implementing transformative deals across Africa. She has spearheaded financial products for programs totaling $4 billion, fundamentally reshaping how development finance institutions, governments, and private sector players collaborate on high-impact initiatives.

As founder of Frontiers International Consulting (FIC), Bahgi specializes in investment advisory, blended finance transactions, and bridging the gap between early-stage projects and institutional financial close. Her work spans infrastructure, energy, transport, and climate resilience, leveraging powerful networks including membership in Convergence Blended Finance.

Bahgi's career is marked by exceptional public-private partnership development. She served as liaison between The White House and the Millennium Challenge Corporation through the Presidential Advisory Council for Doing Business in Africa, connecting Fortune 500 companies with US government agencies. She designed transformative Energy Compacts across West Africa, including $500M projects in Togo and Senegal, and pioneered a groundbreaking $35M Independent Power Producer program that mobilized €17M from the European Investment Bank.

Her expertise includes tenure with premier organizations such as the World Bank's International Finance Corporation, MCC, and Chevron Corporation (formerly Noble Energy). She led MCC's Private Sector Advisory Council and managed a $9M SME grant program in collaboration with USDFC.

Bahgi holds an MSc in Development Management from American University and is fluent in English, French, Amharic, Tigrigna, and proficient in Arabic.
