Professor Fred Ogola

Professor Fred Ogola is a distinguished strategist, economist, and thought leader, recognised for his extensive contribution to corporate strategy, governance, and economic transformation across Africa and internationally. He formerly served as Deputy Vice Chancellor for Strategy, Innovation, and Resource Mobilisation at Strathmore University, where he led large-scale institutional strategy formulation and execution.

He holds a PhD and Master of Research from ESADE Business School in Barcelona, an MBA from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, and five undergraduate degrees spanning Psychology, Philosophy, Theology, Economics, and Urban Planning—reflecting his multidisciplinary intellect and holistic approach to solving complex challenges. With more than 1,671 strategic plans developed, 5,000 organisations trained, and over 1 million executives impacted, Professor Ogola is regarded as one of Africa’s leading thinkers in strategy and leadership. His global advisory experience includes supporting the Reserve Bank of India and contributing to economic turnaround strategies within the PIIGS economies under the European Central Bank. In Kenya, he has advised key government agencies, including KeNHA, Athi Water Works Development Agency, and the Vision 2030 Secretariat. A respected public intellectual, he has featured in over 200 television interviews and authored more than 50 peer-reviewed papers, 3,000 articles, 483 academic curricula, and two best-selling books, including the Strategic Thinking Series.
